It's finally potato harvesting season and we have a lot of spuds to dig up; both in Stardew Valley and the backyard! After we finish watering our crops and organizing the farm a little bit, it's time to go to the annual Flower Dance. Everyone in Pelican Town is gathering west of the forest, across the bridge, just south of the Wizard's Tower. We make sure to say hello to everyone and even ask someone to dance! On our way home, we talk about vulnerable feelings and having the courage to express ourselves. JoMo ends the day with a kid’s book recommendation called "Secret of the Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman.

Maybe you've seen lots of people wearing orange shirts recently and a lot of them reading "Every Child Matters" on them. That's because, starting in 2021, Canada declared September 30th as The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. It's a Canadian day of remembrance, where we're all encouraged to think about the history of the Indian residential school system and how that hurt the lives of thousands of Indigenous children and families. Even though this happened in the past, it still affects all our lives today.

We have some BIG surprises today in Stardew Valley! After harvesting our first cauliflower, we head to the beach to buy a crab trap from Willy. It's time to make a vegetable delivery to Jodi so she can make her famous cauliflower yellow curry; I hope we get to try some. While we head into the mines, we take a day trip to the Malahat Skywalk! Located in Vancouver Island BC, the Malahat Skywalk is a wheelchair and stroller-friendly, fully accessible TreeWalk. Once we get back to the mines, we reach level 40 and find a very interesting treasure.

It's a beautiful day in Stardew Valley. After watering our crops, we tap a couple of maple trees and learn all about harvesting maple water to make maple syrup! We then head into the backyard to see all the veggies JoMo's been harvesting for the late Summer season. Afterwards, it's time to head into Pelican Town to see what everyone is up to! We have a conversation with Shane on the lake about depression and how to process complicated feelings of sadness.

We're spending the day on Pender Island (located in British Columbia, Canada) at my Dad's house and we're going to make bread together! My Dad (David Morton) is a baker, so he's constantly feeding his sourdough and churning out anywhere between 50-70 loaves each week. I spent several days up here filming his process, so it was a really special memory for me. It is my joy and honour to share my Dad's bread-making process with you.

Today is a day of exercise and getting out in nature. After picking our first strawberry harvest of the season, we head to Grouse Mountain (Vancouver BC, Canada) to hike up the Grouse Grind trail! The Grouse Grind is a 2.5-kilometre trail up the face of Grouse Mountain, commonly referred to as “Mother Nature's Stairmaster". We see some amazing views and take the gondola ride back down the mountain. Afterwards, we head over to visit Gunther at The Stardew Valley Museum & Library to donate a few interesting artifacts. It's then time to head into the mines to gather some material for building on our farm. As the sun goes down, we take a deep breath and share some gratitude for the fun day we had.

It's Shane's birthday and he's nowhere to be found! We water the farm and head to the forest to pick some wild spring onions. After we get into Pelican Town, it's time to buy Shane a birthday present. While we try to find Shane, we head out on a field trip to the Sunshine Coast Nursery! We learn all about what a garden nursery is and how they take care of plants. Finally, we head back and find Shane just outside of the Stardrop Saloon. After wishing Shane a happy birthday, it's time to head back to the farm for some mindfulness practice before bed.

JoMo wakes up to a couple of letters from Pam and Jodi. After reading them, Ashkon comes by to visit us on the farm. JoMo talks about how being in the woods is a good time to practice mindfulness. We go through a quick, calming mindful meditation with Ashkon leaving everyone feeling very calm and relaxed. Afterward, it's time to visit the UBC Botanical Gardens and go on The Greenheart TreeWalk! Another perfect time to practice mindfulness. Back in Stardew Valley, we have a little bit of mining to do before visiting the Adventurer's Guild.

After learning some more farming tips, Ashkon comes by to see if there's anything they can help with on the farm. We go for a walk through the forest with Ashkon and talk about our favourite way to eat blueberries: frozen! It's also Pam's birthday, so we make a note to swing by the Stardrop Saloon later to give her a birthday present. While we mine inside the caves, it's time to take a break from screentime and go blueberry picking! Afterwards, we make a quick visit to the beach to see if there are any seashells or choral we can find. It's been another beautiful, productive and educational day in Stardew Valley!

Let's talk about rice! We all eat it, but where does it come from and how does it reach our plate? After our first harvest, Ashkon tells us all about rice and how it's grown. We then head into the forest and harvest more salmonberries than we can count! JoMo remembers that one of George's favourite things is Leek, so we bring him one freshly picked from the forest. After a quick visit to the beach, we say hello to Willy and some of our neighbours in Pelican Town. JoMo then takes us outside of the game and over to the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. We talk about what a bird sanctuary is and why they exist. After feeding a bunch of hungry mallards, it's time to head back home to bed.

It's another day of salmonberry picking in Stardew Valley, with a huge focus on recycling, sustainability and general learning for kids. After heading into Pelican Town, JoMo takes us outside of the game to Emma Lea Farms where it's time to go berry picking in real life! After harvesting two full bins of strawberries and tayberries, it's time to head over to Clint's so he can help us upgrade our axe. We end the day by talking about metaphors and discussing various examples. After taking a deep breath, it's time for bed.

It's salmonberry season in Stardew Valley! While everyone is inside taking shelter from the rain, we head out for our first wild harvest. Afterward, JoMo talks about upcycling a used shipping container by turning it into a new garden bed - becoming the new home for our sprouting sweet potatoes! JoMo shows how to separate the sweet potato sprouts and how to properly bury them in the soil.

After learning how to make coleslaw, JoMo needs to head down to the Cindersap Forest to check in on Vincent and Jas (who are playing down by the sewer gates). We hear strange noises from inside the sewer and decide to leave it alone. JoMo takes us out of the game to show everyone the Kitty Hotel built for his two best farm helpers: Suki and Tawny (his cats). JoMo talks about how real farming takes proper preparation and organization, two valuable skills for growing up.

It's the moment we've all been waiting for: The Annual Stardew Valley Egg Festival! We read a letter from Robin, and we have lots of harvesting to do! We go through JoMo's garden picking all sorts of peas, cucumbers and lettuce. We finally arrive in Pelican Town to take part in this year's festivities. Pierre is selling strawberry seeds at his stand, and we almost buy out his entire stock! After saying hello to everyone at the festival, it's time for the egg hunt.

JoMo takes us out into his garden to show how much things can grow in just three weeks once the weather starts to warm up. We look at all kinds of vegetables like eggplant, zucchini, carrots, peas, bush beans, green onion, pak choi, kale, and so much more. What a privilege it is to be surrounded by friends, treasure, and a garden bursting with life!

It's a beautiful day in Stardew Valley and Robbin has lost her favourite axe! She says there's 250 gold in it for whoever can return it to her, so out we go. On the way down through the forest, we harvest a nice patch of wild spring onions and, wouldn't you guess, we find Robbin's lost axe. We discuss what "sustainability" means and how small shifts in our daily habits can protect our planet for future generations to enjoy.

As soon as we get out the door today, we receive a letter from our Mom. She tells us that she misses us and that she hopes we're enjoying the farming life. We talk about all the different kinds of people in our lives who care about us and how it's important to celebrate them.

Today is all about farming! It's a rainy day in Stardew Valley, so JoMo talks about what farmers do when it's too wet outside and how a little planning can make life a lot easier. While we catch a few fish, JoMo takes kids out of the game to walk through a community garden and one of his local farms.

JoMo starts the day by talking about safe ways kids can protect their garden from hungry pests and how every insect plays an important role in our ecosystem. After taking a quick look at Pelican Town's local calendar of events, we head down to the beach where we're suddenly transported to Phoebe & Piper's garden tour.

JoMo wakes up to a strange letter signed by someone named M. Rasmodius. We soon find out that it’s the name of the Wizard who lives in the stone tower deep in the forest. After paying a visit to the Wizard, we gain the power to communicate with the forest spirits known as Junimos!

After heading to the beach south of Pelican Town, JoMo teaches kids about worm composting (also known as vermicomposting). We go into JoMo’s backyard to learn how valuable worms are for the soil. After catching a few fish, we say hi to Shane in Pierre’s General Store. Shane tells us to leave him alone, and we talk about the importance of setting boundaries and how to respect other people's boundaries as well.

JoMo wakes up to Marnie at the door with a little gray, stray kitty. She asks us if Our Farm needs a farm kitty, and we say YES! While SHOMI The Farm Kitty explores their new home, JoMo meets up with Mayor Lewis at the old Community Center. We see a strange, tiny green creature and find ourselves very surprised and confused! Lewis doesn’t notice and seems confused by our reaction.

JoMo takes the kids through his own seed planting process by showing them how to plant tricolored bush beans! We see a before and after shot of how quickly seeds can sprout and what a healthy root system looks like. We discuss how, sometimes, the fastest way to feel better about something is to talk to a grownup you trust.

JoMo heads to the beach for some rainy morning speed fishing! Kids can practice counting all the fish as JoMo runs through some basic math questions. After checking up on the newly-planted seedlings, JoMo takes kids outside of the game to compare them with seedlings he's growing in his own home and shows how easy it is to do it yourself!

JoMo meets Willy for the first time: the local Fisherman and owner of the Pelican Town Fish Shop! Willy gives us his old bamboo fishing rod and teaches us that a true angler has respect for the water and for the fish that live within it. We plant our first round of parsnips, potatoes, green beans, cauliflower and tulips for the bees!

JoMo takes the bus to Stardew Valley and is greeted by Robin, the town carpenter, and Mayor Lewis! After showing us to our new home on Grandpa's property, it's time to have our first night on the farm. We feel a little homesick, but it's quickly overwhelmed by all the excitement of our first day in Stardew Valley!
